Biographical Info

K9 Dano was born on June 2, 2007 in Germany. After a generous donation from Cold Steel Knives, K9 Dano came to America to become a police K9 in 2010.


K9 Dano and his handler, Senior Deputy Delpit, were assigned to the Thousand Oaks, Ojai, and Moorpark stations. During his successful career, K9 Dano found & apprehended numerous suspects, found large quantities of narcotics, tracked & located missing adults, and saved his handler’s life.


In 2014, K9 Dano was awarded the “K9 Hero of the Year” by the National Police Dog Foundation for his courage while saving Senior Deputy Delpit’s life.


In 2015, K9 Dano retired and continued to live with his handler. K9 Dano wasn’t just a hard working K9 partner; he was a loyal friend who was always looking out for Senior Deputy Delpit. K9 Dano will be greatly missed and never forgotten. We miss you K9 Dano and we will see you again. Rest easy friend. – Ventura County Sheriff K9 Unit
