This group is dedicated to the study and mastery of infantry tactics at all levels. While the group is open to discussing counterinsurgency (COIN) and low intensity conflict, the primary focus will be conventional warfare. The reason for this is because while infantrymen have gained a great deal of experience in COIN over the past decades, knowledge in conventional infantry tactics and extended patrolling operations has begun to fade. The hard-earned lessons of World War II and Vietnam will have to be re-learned in the next conventional conflict if we do not capture the wisdom and experience of veteran infantrymen and sustain it across the force. More importantly, we must consider how warfare is evolving and how infantry tactics must adapt to keep pace with emerging threats and trends in conflict. While the group focuses primarily on infantry tactics, it is also open to discussing other aspects of the combined arms team and joint operations.
