Hybrid warfare is the preferred method in the 21st century for challenging the US hegemony overseas, threatening US allies, and disrupting the established international order by revisionist and aspirant Great and regional powers such as Russia, China, Iran, as well as others. While the various aspects pertaining to the hybrid warfare doctrines and tactics are being researched, studied and written about – including information warfare, cyber warfare, subversion and espionage, etc. – this critically important phenomenon is still not being taught in a holistic fashion. The Hybrid Defense Academy aims to fill this void by offering a comprehensive overview of this nefarious and subversive global challenge, by offering an in-depth analysis of all functional domains of Hybrid Warfare, their geographical scope and the regions they encompass, and most importantly – their interconnected nature – from the Baltic States and Ukraine to Syria, Libya and Venezuela; and from the Arctic Ocean to the South China Sea.
The Hybrid Defense Academy is proud to offer its first Senior Executive Course, aimed at familiarizing an entire range of current and future senior leaders – US government officials, civilian and military leaders, Congressional staffers, graduate-level researchers, journalists, members of think tanks and academia, – with the current status of Hybrid Warfare worldwide and the Western (US/NATO) responses to it in the current decade and beyond. The course objective is to help those senior leaders develop critical thinking about Hybrid Warfare that would enable them to designing tailored responses as part of the course exercises and group discussions. The online course will also serve as preparation for an in-person course familiarization with the Hybrid “terrain” by visiting the NATO Eastern Flank and Ukraine and listening to lectures by local experts and officials (following the lifting of travel restrictions potentially in early 2021).
